About CYENCE
Where young researchers meet
CYENCE is an international science competition and conference that brings together talented young researchers and changemakers from around the world. It gives them a unique opportunity to present their own research projects, measure their results in an international competition, share experience and build connections with young scientists across countries and fields.
During a week-long programme in Brno, participants present their research to an international expert jury, get to know leading Czech universities and research institutions, and take part in a varied programme of academic, cultural and social activities. CYENCE is a space not only for a science competition, but also for international cooperation, inspiration and lasting friendships.
A unique part of the event is the CYENCE Roadshow: the international participants travel to multiple cities across the Czech Republic and present their research to thousands of Czech high school students. They bring them the latest scientific findings, share their own experience with research and inspire them to explore the world of science while still at secondary school.
The event is organised by Zvaž vědu!, z. s. and the Brno Observatory and Planetarium under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.

Programme
What will happen?
Poster competition
Participants present their own STEM research projects on scientific posters and discuss their results with an international jury of scientists and academics.
CYENCE Roadshow
A 30-minute popular science talk in one of the cities across the Czech Republic, inspiring thousands of Czech high school students.
Science & culture
Visits to leading Czech universities and research institutions, academic and social activities, and getting to know the Czech Republic.
International connections
Meeting talented young scientists from all over the world, sharing experience and making friends and contacts for future scientific cooperation.
Prizes
Awards for the best research
Science awards – first, second and third place for outstanding research projects in each competition category.
Public award – decided by the Czech high school students who visit the public part of the CYENCE poster session.
Special awards – further prizes from partner institutions and organisations.
Winners receive financial and material prizes or paid internships at research institutions in Brno.
